but still have some problems with a daily mail I get. care to explain what the problem can be?

| Can you post the corresponding ArGo logs. It might shed some light on the situation. | | - - - - - - -

| OH... I haven't switched over yet.. But it is on the schedule for this week (hopefully) Is there a detailed log option in this version of ArGo? Does it happen to just one source or from all? I'm looking at the size command: 250-SIZE 20971520 What is the MAX size you have allowed to receive? | | - - - - - - -

| - i am logging everything exept imap, - yes it is just this one source, a friend gets the same news letter but he uses his own isp mail server so i don't think there is a problem from their side - the max message size in argo is set to 20MB thanks for the interest to help | | | | |

| If my calcs are correct, that message is 20 MB, meeting the threashold. You're right on the limit. Can he try a 19.5 MB message and see if it goes through. IMO 20 MB is a pretty big email. SMTP is not the most efficient way to transfer such large files. I have a max of 3 MB on my server.

| strange.... it is a news letter and they are based on html and normally around 30-80KB!
This all started happening after i installed ewall, i have since uninstalled it and restarted the server, this fixed most of my troubles with ewall apart from this one thing.
I have now increased the max size 30MB, will see if this helps tomorrow, they usually send out their news letter between 7-8am

| Keep us posted on your progress. I use eWall and have not had any trouble. I still say that 20 MB is a pretty large email. | | - - - - - - -

| As i said the mail is never bigger then 100KB, i still have the same problem... checked with a friend who also get the same news letter and said that the mail is only 46KB today?!? but I still get the same result. have also tried testing sending a mail from a hotmail account with a file of 2MB without any trouble... here is a new log: [SMTP 000555 11-12-07 10:00:22] Received SMTP Connection from ***.***.***.*** [SMTP 000555 11-12-07 10:00:22] 220 ******************* ArGoSoft Mail Server SMTP Module v.1.0.4.0 at Tue, 11 Dec 2007 09:00:22 GMT [SMTP 000555 11-12-07 10:00:22] EHLO ************** [SMTP 000555 11-12-07 10:00:22] 250-Welcome ***.***.***.***, nice to meet you... | Accourding to the SIZE parameter this one is nearly 29+ MB. Are you using and Server Extensions or front End Proxies, such as eWall? | | - - - - - - -

| that is what is so strange... what ever i set the max size to, the "250-SIZE" reflects just the same size. I am very sure the mail is no more then 30-100KB, I have been subcribing to the news letter for 3 year, and never have they tried sending me a mail that is in the megabytes.
As i said in the first post i have been running Argosoft.net (used Argosoft Pro for 2 years before that), no problems. I installed eWall (trial) on the 3rd of december, after alot of trouble, timeouts all over the place, not being able to send mail, mail being dropped for no apparent reason, It looked like eWall and Argo had a really hard time talking with each other. So I have hence uninstalled eWall, and things are looking a hole lot better! apart from this very irritating thing.

| "intra.dinside.no" sends "EHLO". ArGo responds with "Welcome ..." and sends list of supported SMTP commands. "intra.dinside.no" quits the session by sending "QUIT" instead of responding "MAIL FROM: ..." I have just established a telnet connection to your server (moderators see the IP you have posted from) and your server responds correct.
So I don't see a false behaviour on ArGo's side. The problem seems to be on the other side.
-Roland PS: Query for "roland-li" in today's log to see the connection.

Active Forums 4.2 |
| | | Mail Server v1.0.8.3 |
- Added support of STARTTLS (STLS) command for SMTP, POP3, IMAP, and SMTP relay and delivery, which will
allow secure, fully encrypted connections, when possible;
| | 11/6/2011 1:10:34 PM |
| Mail Server v1.0.8.2 |
- Optimized delivery speed. In earlier versions each "tick" which was checking whether messages were
in the outbox queue, was picking up only one message at a time. Now it will attempt to pick MaximumAllowedThreads-ActiveDelivery threads
messages, which should considerably increase deliver speed;
- Optimized SEARCH and STATUS IMAP commands. They appear to be used very extensively by Android, and (not that extensively, but still) by
iPhone. Now users who use mobile phones to access their IMAP accounts will see considerable improvement;
- Optimized STORE IMAP command. Before storing of IMAP flags was occuring one message at a time, which seemed to be fine
with SQL server, but proved to be slow for SQLite... Now it happens with single SQL call.
| | 10/8/2011 7:59:35 PM |
| ArGoSoft Mail Server v1.0.8.1 | -
Fixed a bug: when using IMAP via Firefox with "When I delete a message, move it
to Trash folder" option, marking messages in the trash folder was causing high CPU usage,
and was taking some time, making the server pretty much non-responsive. The problem was
happening only when using SQLite.
| | 6/6/2011 9:33:36 PM |
| ArGoSoft Mail Server v1.0.8.0 |
- Fixed a problem with web interface - was showing only first page of messages, and would not
switch to other pages; In order to fix the web interface, mail server itself has to be updated;
- When installint initially, was still using SQLite, even when SQL was requested;
- There was a problem with switching from SQLite database engine to SQL server database engine:
the SQL database was not being created;
| | 5/23/2011 5:53:55 PM |
| ArGoSoft Mail Server .NET v1.0.7.9 |
- The server no longer requires Microsoft SQL Server. If SQL server is not found, it will use
SQLite engine, which does not require separate installation. If SQL server is found, then user will be
prompted whether he wants to use it;
- Made other improvements, such as, now mailbox rebuild indexes orphaned records, rather then deleting them,
also added an opotion to increment UIDL validity of folder (both on the Mailbox viewer box);
- Made minor improvements on web interface;
