| What do you have set in your email client for the pop server? is it a FQDN, or an "private" IP address? | | - - - - - - -

| I just attempted to telnet into your domain, on port 110. Check your firewall and router to ensure that the port is open and being directed to the correct internal IP address.
If your server is not on the same IP address then what you use to post to this forum, then try using telnet from outside your lan to see if you can access the server. There is a document in the download library that explains how to use telnet to test your connection. | | - - - - - - -

| Hi again,
I made an online test of my router and port 25, 80, 110 is open so i don't think it is there the problem is.
I also double checked the internal ip address and that one is also correct.

| And the result of the scan is as follows :
25 (SMTP Mail Server Port)
This port is not being blocked and there is a program accepting connections on this port.
80 (HTTP)
If this computer is not supposed to be acting as a web server you should not have this port open.
Open and Unsecure! 110 (POP3 Mail Server Port)
This port is not being blocked and there is a program accepting connections on this port.

| Please send me a Private Message (click the message icon under my name) with your WAN side IP address and your domain name. As a Administrator/Moderation, I can see the IP address you are posting from, and my efforts to make a Telnet connection have failed. I understand you do not want this info posted publicly, but at least via a private message, I can see what I get when I attempt to connect. I might be able to figure out the issue. | | - - - - - - -

| Okay, thanks for the private message. 1. I can access your SMTP and POP3 via telnet. In your look under Pop3 look for user ArGoStuff.com and password secrete. I used your FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) mail.xxxx.xx to test via SMTP & POP3. So this leads me to believe that this may be a client setup issue. Remember to specify mail.xxxx.xx for both the SMTP & POP3 servers. User account should be user@mydomain.com format. Make sure you use SMTP authentication. If you can access the POP3 account from inside your network, then I will rule out that you do not have Pop3 access disabled in the user profile. Side notes: You need to set your servers Host name to a FQDN, if not some mail servers will not accept mail from you. Also I suggest setting a SPF record in your DNS. I uses the tools at DNS Stuff http://www.dnsstuff.com/ to check our site, the two biggies are the two mentioned above/ Let me know how you make out. | | - - - - - - -

| 1. I could see that you did some test in the log file.
2. I have mail.xxxx.xxxx set for the pop3 account but not for the smpt, there i'm using the smtp server from my ISP. But why do you mean that i also should my own mail.xxxx.xxxx for smtp ?
3. No i don't have pop3 disabled for the users.
4. Where do i set my servers Host name to my mail.xxxx.xxxx ?
5. What is SPF and where do i set this ?

| 1. Good.. so we know it works. 2. By using mail.xxx.xxxx for SMTP your mail server will relay the mail not your ISP mail server. You can configure the mail sever to use the Smart Server option in which your mail server would relay your messages via your ISP's mail server.
3. Then it has be be with a client setup. If you want to create a temp account for me steveT@ your domain and PM me with the account info and password, I can see if I can configure my OE to connect to your server.
4. Go to Options -> General Options and type it in the Local Host field. It has to be a FQDN. On my server I use .topcatcomputing.com. The is the name of the server for which I have ArGo running on, usually (in my case) Destiny or Columbia. So my local host field says destiny.topcatcomputing.com. It should also be something, that if you did a reverse lookup on it, you get a pointer back. My Reverse lookup of the above comes out to be:
PTR record: ip216-179-41-27.cust.bestweb.net You could just use the top level domain for this setting, xxxxxx.xxx (example: topcatcomputing.com) 5. SPF is set at your DNS server. You can learn more about SPF at this site: http://www.openspf.org/ | | - - - - - - -

Active Forums 4.2 |
| | | Mail Server v1.0.8.3 |
- Added support of STARTTLS (STLS) command for SMTP, POP3, IMAP, and SMTP relay and delivery, which will
allow secure, fully encrypted connections, when possible;
| | 11/6/2011 1:10:34 PM |
| Mail Server v1.0.8.2 |
- Optimized delivery speed. In earlier versions each "tick" which was checking whether messages were
in the outbox queue, was picking up only one message at a time. Now it will attempt to pick MaximumAllowedThreads-ActiveDelivery threads
messages, which should considerably increase deliver speed;
- Optimized SEARCH and STATUS IMAP commands. They appear to be used very extensively by Android, and (not that extensively, but still) by
iPhone. Now users who use mobile phones to access their IMAP accounts will see considerable improvement;
- Optimized STORE IMAP command. Before storing of IMAP flags was occuring one message at a time, which seemed to be fine
with SQL server, but proved to be slow for SQLite... Now it happens with single SQL call.

| ArGoSoft Mail Server v1.0.8.1 | -
Fixed a bug: when using IMAP via Firefox with "When I delete a message, move it
to Trash folder" option, marking messages in the trash folder was causing high CPU usage,
and was taking some time, making the server pretty much non-responsive. The problem was
happening only when using SQLite.

| ArGoSoft Mail Server v1.0.8.0 |
- Fixed a problem with web interface - was showing only first page of messages, and would not
switch to other pages; In order to fix the web interface, mail server itself has to be updated;
- When installint initially, was still using SQLite, even when SQL was requested;
- There was a problem with switching from SQLite database engine to SQL server database engine:
the SQL database was not being created;
| | 5/23/2011 5:53:55 PM |
| ArGoSoft Mail Server .NET v1.0.7.9 |
- The server no longer requires Microsoft SQL Server. If SQL server is not found, it will use
SQLite engine, which does not require separate installation. If SQL server is found, then user will be
prompted whether he wants to use it;
- Made other improvements, such as, now mailbox rebuild indexes orphaned records, rather then deleting them,
also added an opotion to increment UIDL validity of folder (both on the Mailbox viewer box);
- Made minor improvements on web interface;
