Is there a faste way to upgrade from pro to .NET vesions. I have been importing into the .NET version fo 3 hours now, and have gotten to the end of the 'C's. It took about 15 minutes to export a-c from the pro version. I don't think I can afford to lock down the server for 16 or so hours.

Mike,

I will forward this to Archie. Based on the time taken for the export, it appears that you have a lot of users.

Hi Mike,

I guess, there is not too much I can do about it...  I have to copy files over, and if there are lots of files, it takes time...  I just can't think of any ways to speed this process up.

I tried to do a quick one by exporting a-b, then c, then d, etc. I then imported these into .NET. I had to do this over a couple of days, as I can't turn down the server for more than an hour at a time. I noticed if the emails were already in there, I could cheat and do the process over aq period of time, and keep the .NET server sort of up to date. Problem arose when I checked back on my personal email account, and noticed none of the new emails came in. I eliminated that account, and reloaded, and the same problem arose. I don't think I can do the update this way.
Does anyone have any idea how I can import 1100 clients, and 120,000 emails that won't take 2 days?

Actually, the pro version doesn't export all the messages now. When I look at the time stamp on the exported emails, the don't go past november 2008, when I tried to fisrt export the messages. Strange.

Have you tried doing a miail bag. So mail will come in while you do the export/import? I really do not know why it is taking so long. It has been a long time since I made the move, but of course I did not have the load you have. Is it the import or the export that takes the greatest time?

Export takes about 2 hours. Imports considerably longer. I'll look into the mailbag option. The question is now, d I have to re-install the .NET version to do another export?

I thought you were exporting for the Pro version and importing to the .NET Version?  Which version is the "active" version while you try this conversion?  Are you using in the latest version of the Pro server?  I see that v1.8.9.6 has a fix for the export function, there was an issue where not all messages were being exported. See http://www.argosoft.com/RootPages/M...6 for details.

Mike,

I still had a copy. Here is a link to it: http://argosoft.topcatcomputing.com...MS_Pro.zip

I had to ZIP it up for the download to work

I will leave the file there for a short while, then it will be removed.

Mail Server v1.0.8.3
  • Added support of STARTTLS (STLS) command for SMTP, POP3, IMAP, and SMTP relay and delivery, which will allow secure, fully encrypted connections, when possible;
11/6/2011 1:10:34 PM
Mail Server v1.0.8.2
  • Optimized delivery speed. In earlier versions each "tick" which was checking whether messages were in the outbox queue, was picking up only one message at a time. Now it will attempt to pick MaximumAllowedThreads-ActiveDelivery threads messages, which should considerably increase deliver speed;
  • Optimized SEARCH and STATUS IMAP commands. They appear to be used very extensively by Android, and (not that extensively, but still) by iPhone. Now users who use mobile phones to access their IMAP accounts will see considerable improvement;
  • Optimized STORE IMAP command. Before storing of IMAP flags was occuring one message at a time, which seemed to be fine with SQL server, but proved to be slow for SQLite... Now it happens with single SQL call.

ArGoSoft Mail Server v1.0.8.1
  • Fixed a bug: when using IMAP via Firefox with "When I delete a message, move it to Trash folder" option, marking messages in the trash folder was causing high CPU usage, and was taking some time, making the server pretty much non-responsive. The problem was happening only when using SQLite.

ArGoSoft Mail Server v1.0.8.0
  • Fixed a problem with web interface - was showing only first page of messages, and would not switch to other pages; In order to fix the web interface, mail server itself has to be updated;
  • When installint initially, was still using SQLite, even when SQL was requested;
  • There was a problem with switching from SQLite database engine to SQL server database engine: the SQL database was not being created;
5/23/2011 5:53:55 PM
ArGoSoft Mail Server .NET v1.0.7.9
  • The server no longer requires Microsoft SQL Server. If SQL server is not found, it will use SQLite engine, which does not require separate installation. If SQL server is found, then user will be prompted whether he wants to use it;
  • Made other improvements, such as, now mailbox rebuild indexes orphaned records, rather then deleting them, also added an opotion to increment UIDL validity of folder (both on the Mailbox viewer box);
  • Made minor improvements on web interface;
