I have made some changes to the appearance of the ArGoStuff site.

  • Removed duplicate forums (Mail Transfer forum was located in two different groups).
  • Users can now reply to Site News items. Before only Moderators/Administrators could reply.
  • Changed the way the Latest Articles are displayed on the home page.
  • Changed the layout of the Articles on the Articles Page.
  • Added "Printer Friendly" version to each article so that it may be printed.
  • Added a RSS feed to CERT for Cyber Security Tips.
  • Changed Antivirus providers (see below).

Antivirus  Troubles:

In the beginning of December Symantec, as a part of my Gold Service contract issued me an update to their Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition. This update was known as Symantec End Point Security. I rolled out this product to my Servers and workstations. The result was that the web sites (including this one) were not accessible, as was email and other services.  Even on my desktop applications were slow to respond. I come to find that this version also included a firewall feature that was blocking all necessary traffic. After several days of tweaking, adjusting and tunning I came the the conclusion that this new version is "bloat ware". For me that was a difficult decision to reach as I have been a long time supporter of Symantec Antivirus products. All Symantec Antivirus products have been removed from my servers. After researching and testing, I have selected Grisoft AVG Antivirus as my replacement.  The virus database is update throughout the day. You can see the AVG program version and virus database version on the downloads page, as this information is updated each time the virus database is updated.
