After a review of this sites user base, I noticed a significant number of user accounts that were imported from the old ArGoStuff site that have not logged on since I took over the forum.  At this point I decide it was timeAdministrative to "Clean Up" the user database. This started Operation "Clean House".  I have broken this operation down to four phases.

Phase Details    Status
I Administrative Message - Send out an administrative email to anyone who has not logged in since 15 December 2006. This message informed them of the change of the ArGoStuff site and requested that they log on to the site and update their profiles. Any account that has not been logged in 15 February 2008 would be deleted.

Completed 15 Jan 08

II Bounced Emails -  This was expected. Any email that bounce, that user account was deleted. I will note that there were some creative email address used that were non-existent. This is one of the reasons we require valid email addresses when registering with the site. Completed  01 Feb 08
III Delete unused Accounts - Any account that has not logged on since 15 December 2006 will be deleted. Completed 16 Feb 2008
IV Email Probe - In the future, I will be sending out an email probe to check for invalid email addresses. What happens to those accounts that bounce have yet to be determined. As I know from time to time servers can go down, I may wait a specific time period and try those that bounce again. Pending -TBA

Emails Sent 3,005
Bounced Emails 737
User Accounts Deleted 737+
Auto Responders 7
White List Confirmations 32
White List Confirmations -Failed 1
Manual Follow ups 3

+ =Some email addresses had multiple user accounts associated with it. Therefore all accounts associated with a bounced email were deleted.

As a side note, The emails were sent using a VB Script that read the ArGoStuff User Database,  and created a CDONTS mail message, which was sent to my ArGoSoft Mail Server .NET Edition. In my opinion, with 3,005 outbound messages, 737 bounces and the other replies mentioned above, plus my normal server load, I feel that the ArGo .NET Edition did a great job of handling the load.

What are your thoughts on this topic?

I have updated the chart that I posted in the previous message. Today 2147 user accounts were deleted. Those were dormant accounts who had logged in since the forum change over (15 Dec 2006), and did not respond to the administrative message that was sent on 15 Jan 2008. An additional 8 accounts were deleted that had registered but never verified. We are now at 996 users. 121 users responded to the administrative email, and I thank you for taking the time to log in and update.
