Greetings All!,

As the subject stats, when it rains, it pours.

Today while restoring the web server, (was using BartPE and DriveImageXML and a mapped drive to the DB server where the backup files were stored) there was an error during the restore. So I switched over to the DB server and there was a lot going on, enough that I felt a reboot was in order. When reboot finished the server FROZE at the Windows 2003 Splash Screen.  ARRGH! Now both Servers were down.  Booting to Safe Mode worked fine, just in normal mode. I tried every trick I knew.  I also tapped the expertise of Robin Short (past Forum Administrator). In doing all the rebooting and troubleshooting, it got to the point where it would not boot at all.. The Freeze seem to indicate a Video Issue but the dead box said Power Supply.

In a pinch, off to Best Buy and I got a new AGP video card. I was going to get both the Video card and Power Supply, but I was leaning towards the Video card. Put the new card in, and NADA... Now back to Best Buy (before they closed) and grabbed a replacement Power Supply. I got that installed and sure enough, things came back to life.

With a little tweaking and restoring of settings, the DB Server was back. Oh while doing all that troubleshooting I completed restoring the Web Server.  So now both servers are back up and running.

The DB Server went down about 2 PM EST, and was brought back online, completely reset by 9:55 PM EST. The Web Server was up about 9:15 PM EST, but since this (and all of my sites) require a back end DataBase, the web sites did not come back until the DB server came back online.

Todays outage also took out all my email and my email server sits on the DB Server.
