I have a personal domain mydomain.org which forwards all email (*@mydomain.org) to a single POP3 account. I want to read mail from that account and distribute it to multiple users in my home network. Any suggestions on how to do this? I think I might need to get "Mail Transfer" to break out the addresses. Do I also need "Mail Server" to to handle the distribution, or can it go directly to each copy of Outlook?
I also welcome any other suggestions on how to get this done. Thanks.

OK.. I think I need a little more information before I can even understand what you're doing... When you say that all email gets forwarded to a single pop3 account, is the original email address from still intact, or is it now a forwarded email from system@mydomain.org?
How are you going to determine who gets what email on you r local network? Is it a one-to one mapping? in other words, all email to sales@mydomain.org goes to sally, while all email to payments@mydomain.prg go to tom? Or will it be based upon some content in the emails?
Obviously, an email client (like outlook) can process incoming emails and then re-send them to somewhere else based upon rules.. That requires that the email client always be running and available...
If you could redirect the email for mydomain.org to your own email server, I know that mailfilter could certainly handle the redistribution(along with argosoft email server)...

When I download the POP account into Outlook, I can still see the original to: and from: addresses. So if sender@somewhere.com sends an email to sally@mydomain.org, I see it in outlook with the from: address = sender@somewhere.com and the to: address = sally@mydomain.org.
I simply want to be able to download all messages from the POP account, and then distribute them to my local accounts based on the to: address. So to: sally@mydomain.org goes to the email client on Sally's computer.
Outlook can use rules to move the mail to different folders, but I need them sent to separate clients on different machines. Outlook can also use rules to resend the messages to other email accounts, but that changes the to: and from: addresses, often screws up HTML formats, and frequently fails to do the forwarding. (That is what I'm trying currently, but it is not working acceptably.)
I have looked into using DynDNS to redirect mail to my local server, but their tech support says I would need "mail relay" which involves a recurring cost that I would rather not pay. So as far as I understand, I can't easily redirect my mail to the local server. (FYI, my current ISP is Comcast, using a dynamic address, though I would prefer a solution that works anywhere.)

OK, unless I'm missing something, why not turn off the forwarding, and let sally log in to her own email account there? I don't understand why there has to be forwarding to one POP3 account..
Am I missing something? |

Because there are no email accounts at mydomain.org. Rather than pay for POP service there, I would like to forward emails to MyPopAccount@SomewhereElse.com, which happens to be a free lifetime account.

| OK.. So you'll need the mail transfer product to get the emails, and an email server to receive the emails and allow users to retrieve them. If you're going to install your own email server, I'd say use DYNDNS and point your domain to that server directly.. |

Using DYNDNS to point directly to my server was my first thought too. However, the tech support at DYNDNS says I can't do it without their "MailRelay" product for $60 a year. If you know how to do it, I'd be happy to go that route, otherwise I guess ArgoSoft's "Mail Transfer" product will be sufficient.

Ok, I got Mail Transfer going, and it is working somewhat. I can get messages TO different accounts delivered correctly. Unfortunately, it seems that I can't do anything if one of my accounts is a BCC. Also, if a message is TO or CC to two or more of my addresses, all the copies go to one account (the first one to process the TO or CC header).
Any ideas on how to get this working better?

- Mailbags now have an option to accept mail only when specified server is down - will help to fight
with spam which attempt to deliver mail bypassing the main server;
- When delivering mail, if main exchanger returns 4xx reply (temporary problem), the server will not
try other exchangers, will retry later the main exchanger;
- Server options moved from registry to a XML file. 64 bit versions of Vista and 2008 server appear
