Is this a regular email that is being sent, or is it from a Script/Web Page?

Dan,

I have set up a GMail Account, and was able to send successfully to it. Please send me an email to my Gmail account and see if you get the error. I will send you the address via the Sites Private Messages.

Steve

Archie told me to turn of Use Size paramter, and then it worked????

I am stunned that some simple setting like this would disallow delivery to Google????

Amazing. I wounder if he put that in his FAQ?

Thanks for posting the solution to this issue. I guess I don't have the SIZE parameter turned on.

Hank,

what exactly does the size parameter do?

and the other boxes on that screen too?

Figure 20

Use SIZE Parameter – If this option is checked, the server will send a SIZE parameter with MAIL FROM command, if the connection is a ESMTP session.  It will decrease the load of server, if the remote server supports the same parameter, and your server is going to relay the mail, size of which exceeds the size, accepted by mail server.  Your server also will honor this parameter, if some another server is connected to your server during the ESMTP session, and uses SIZE parameter.

Cache MX Data – When enable it will cache the MX records. This option is enabled by default. To view the list of databases, just click the “View the Database” button.

Auto detect DNS Servers at Startup – If this option is checked, the server will attempt to detect your DNS servers when the program starts.

Well I received tha same error BUT I didn't have the Size parameter turned on. Here are two lines with errors.

10/6/2008 8:45:27 AM - SMTP error relaying the message to server

gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com: 209.85.217.177: 451 4.5.0 SMTP protocol violation, see RFC 2821 1si26521454gxk.73

10/6/2008 8:45:27 AM - Winsock error when communicating with exchanger

gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com: 209.85.217.178: ] Software caused connection abort

The user stated that when she sent an email to like 30 addresses that some had received 100 copies of the mail  others had like 30 or 40 copies of the same email.

Do you have a reverse PTR record? Do you have a SPF record? some sites like Hotmail, Yahoo! require these records to accept mail.

Have you turned on the size parameter? That seemed to clear up the issue for the other users.

Mail Server v1.0.5.8

Mail Server

  • Mailbags now have an option to accept mail only when specified server is down - will help to fight with spam which attempt to deliver mail bypassing the main server;

  • Server options moved from registry to a XML file. 64 bit versions of Vista and 2008 server appear to be having access rights problems to the Windows registry, and the change will make our server more compatible with 64 bit versions;
