Hi all!

I have a big Problem with the latest Version of Mailserver Pro.

Every few days it reports a memory full error in the logfile (the memory is NOT full and not defect!). So the Server cant recieve Mails.
I must restart the service so it works again. But after a few days the problem is back. So i will try now to manage a automatic restart of the Service every day at 4 Oclock and hope there is no traffic at this time. But thats not a good solution, only a workaround. Whats the Problem?

Its an Core2Duo Machine with 4GB of RAM and Windows 2000 Server (3,4GB Mem are useable in OS) and 2GB swap File. I switched swapfile now to the maximum 4095MB and hope it runs a little longer.

Perhaps you have an solution vor me, thx!

I'll assume that you are not talking about the .NET version? If so, the database manager that is used for the user mailbxes etc (.CDS) files has a small memory leak. It would appear that the mailserver cannot use all available memory (It may be restricted to 256meg?), so it eventually runs out of memory. On our system, the memory slowly rises, and I have to stop/restart every few days.. The topic has been brought up before, but it would appear that it is not actually the argo code that is the problem, but the DB Manager code. It is my understanding that there is no fix for the problem. I would guess that the .NET version does not have this issue, becuase it uses SQL Server for storage of data..

I believe the .NET version will install itself using the current sql server(if you have one)...(that's my understanding). I'm not using the .NET version ,so I can't verify whether it has any memory issues.

Matt,

You are correct. If you are running MS SQL 2005 it will install  using your current installation.  From what I have been told you can install it on an older versions of SQL, but it requires multiple steps and is not officially supported, plus I do not know what  the steps are.

The .NET server is not compatiable with MySQL. You need either MS SQL 2005 or MS SQL Expresss (free ediion).

Mail Server v1.0.5.8

Mail Server

  • Mailbags now have an option to accept mail only when specified server is down - will help to fight with spam which attempt to deliver mail bypassing the main server;
  • When delivering mail, if main exchanger returns 4xx reply (temporary problem), the server will not try other exchangers, will retry later the main exchanger;
  • Server options moved from registry to a XML file. 64 bit versions of Vista and 2008 server appear to be having access rights problems to the Windows registry, and the change will make our server more compatible with 64 bit versions;
  • Added an option to specify the number of lines on the log screen, when using the user interface. Was causing memory problems if left running for long time;
  • Fixed couple of problems, which were showing when SQL server was set up to use case sensitive SQL statements;
  • Made changes in the remoting interface to allow logging in using aliases;
