| For a long time I used the Mail Server Pro, and updated to the newest version. NET but I have had serious problems in the performance of my server.
I have a server Pentium 4 3.2Ghz 2Gb Ram with Windows 2003 Srv and there are 200 users mailboxes .
In the old version Mail Server Pro was half the performans and never had problems.
The server using up 90% of CPU in the process AGMSService.exe, but it takes SQL total 100% and freezes once or twice a day, and sending and receiving mail is very slow, " What can I do to fix this?

| I've been using the .net version for a while now and it's been running like a champ until the latest version - v1.0.7.3 - and I'm now seeing AGMSService.exe consuming all the CPU resources all of the time. With or without anyone connected. It's become totally unusable. |

| The first thing that comes to mind when this happens is that there is a third party application accessing the files. This could be a real time anti-virus program, a back up utility or something else. Have you made any other changes other than upgrading to the latest version of .NET mail server? I just did the upgrade just a few moments ago and I will be monitoring my system for these events. |

I made no other changes at all. I uninstalled the previous version, installed the latest version and watched performance die completely on the computer.

| My server is dedicated, and uninstalled the antivirus (Kasper) and I stopped system logs the mail server, now even at 2 or 3 times a day is spent 99% of the CPU, if improved a bit because it was above all dia. What can I do?

What are your system Specs? How much RAM, OS & Service Pack, How large is the Hard Drive and how much is available? |

My server is Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz, 2 GB RAM with Windows Server 2003 Std Edition and SP2. The hard drive is 250 GB SATA with 3 partitions, one for the OS of 15.32 GB and has 46% free, the second with 110 Gb with 98% free and the third with 110 Gb with 99% free, partitions are NTFS.
I have 200 active email accounts, and I have configured a domain and 8 subdomains on the server.

Hi BetyG,
I usually like to give the OS drive as much room as possible. A few things can cause the system to swap out more than it should and could effect performance. I have attached a PDF file for performance tuning. It is a draft of a document I was working on a while back. It was written for Windows XP, however most of it applies to new OS's. I have used it on my Win 2003 servers, & Windows 7 Workstations. The biggest improvement would be to make a fixed size swap file and defragment the drive. The document mentions a backup program.. ah.. I never finished the document, however I was referring to DriveImageXML from Runtime Software http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm. The best part of this software is that it is free.
Back to the CPU issue. Do you have any add-on's running with AgGo, such as MailFilter Pro, eWall or any other such programs? Is there any connections happening during these periods of high CPU usage?
I just upgraded to 1.0.7.3 but I have not yet noticed any issues. I also close the GUI when not in use for changing settings or when managing accounts.

- SMTP now supports two methods of authentication: AUTH PLAIN and AUTH LOGIN;
- Improved the way how "stuck" delivery threads are getting cancelled. In some cases with previous versions
they could stay connected infinitely long;
- If a domain is in greylisting exception, and SPF is PASS, DNSBL will be not checked - to avoid blocking messages, when
single IP addresses belonging to large ISPs are blacklisted by DNSBL databases;
- Now there is an option to check all IP addresses, referred to in RECEIVED headers, against DNSBL databases;
- If autoresponder is enabled, and return address is not specified, now the server will use username, plus @ symbol,

- In previous versions "stuck" IMAP connections were not getting disconnected, because it was assumed that
IDLE command can "stick around" infinitely. It turned out, some clients (e.g., iPhone and iPod) do not use
IDLE command, but still leave connections open, which causes open IMAP connections to add up. In this version
IMAP connection gets periodically checked, along with POP3 and SMTP connections, and gets disconnected, if it
was around for long time, and currently is not in IDLE state;
- Fixed a bug in Archiver: copy function was copying entire folder, not just a selection;
- If a list of trusted or banned hosts contained blank entry, it was returning false positives. Now
blank entries are just removed;
- If remoting service cannot start, now it not affect other services. Before
it would crash other services too;
- Added View Log Folder option to the mail server UI;
- Now catching exception when reading server start date/time. It appears, server startup times
was not getting stored properly into the Settings.xml file on non-English versions of Windows;
- License is now checked onlny at server startup, rather then during each connection. It appears,
decrypting of the license and checking it's signature was taking pretty long time on some systems;
