Hi all.

I am still in the process of trialling the .Net version of Argo and MailFilter etc but am having problems with DNSBL - one of the defaults in the .Net version of ArgoSoft MailServer is sorbs.net and I've noticed it rejecting messages from Hotmail and AOL so I've had to disable it.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  The IPs are shown as blacklisted on their site.

I can see some recommendations in a previous thread to think I will configure my server to match those.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

FWIW,  I let all of my filterng be done by MF (actually, I now use eWall).  I use a series of DNSBL and SURBL, along with Reverse DNS testing, SPF and Paranoid. You can see it at http://www.topcatcomputing.com/Articles/Demos/SpamStatsv1.aspx

Sorbs is not one of the lists I use, or have tried.

Hi Steve. Thanks for the reply.

So you only use the DNSBL option in MailFilter as opposed to in Argo itself? Are there any benefits for this? Also, how do you modify the lists that MF uses? I can only see an option to enable or disable it.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

I let eWall do all of my filtering, this also gives me flexibility to do what I want based on the response. MF is almost identical. If you already have a rule, double click it. If not, select New. Then from the list select "If sender is listed in DNSBL". Next click the DNSBL link. This will open a new window. From there you would enter the DNSBL's that you want to use. Here is a list of mine and the responses:

bl.spamcop.net 127.0.0.2
cbl.abusenet.org 127.0.0.2
t1.dnsbl.net.au ANY
zen.spamhaus.org 127.0.0.2

I hope this helps.
